Cuarteto Esteban Morgado

Created in 1999 by Esteban Morgado, this particular quartet consists of a violin, a bandoneón , a double bass and a guitar. The musicians are: Quique Condomí (violin), Walter Castro (bandoneón), Horacio “Mono” Hurtado (double bass) and Esteban Morgado (guitar, arrangements and musical director).

In these ten years since its creation, the quartet has recorded six CDs. It obtained the Gardel Award (the most important award to Argentine music) three times in the categories “Best Tango Performer” and “Best Tango Orchestra”, and the quartet was also given six nominations. The fifth CD, “Milongueros”, was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award.

The quartet has participated in many Tango Festivals throughout the world in cities such as: Paris, Rome, Madrid, Lisbon, Bologna, Turin, Barcelona, Aspen, New York, Lima, Porto Alegre, Montevideo, among others. It has visited many cities in Argentina and took part in a lot of Festivals, events and milongas (tango gatherings). All the quartet’s CDs were presented in very important theaters of Buenos Aires with great success of audience and specialized reviews. They have taken part in 12 cruises for the British company Saga, and visited at least 25 cities, taking Tango to Antarctica on three occasions.

Esteban Morgado wrote the music for the Russian soap opera “Tango de a tres” (Three to tango) in a co-production with TELEFE Argentina where the Esteban Morgado Cuarteto takes part. In 2009 E. Morgado wrote the music for the Argentine film “Homo Viator” (where the quartet has also taken part). Esteban Morgado’s music is included in the planning of many milongas worldwide. The French film “Victor” includes music of Esteban Morgado Cuarteto. The last CD “Vamos que Venimos” was launched in October 2009 in Europe.
